Pastor Reginald B. Newman Bio

Pastor Reginald B. Newman is a native of Atlanta, Georgia.  Licensed in 1984 and ordained in 1987, he has been a faithful servant in ministry.  He is a graduate of Georgia State University where he studied Management and Philosophy with a concentration in Urban Ministries. Pastor Newman is a certified financial officer through the University of Georgia. He served as Director of Christian Education for the Northwestern Baptist Association, 8th District June 1988 to April 1992. Prior to his arrival at FOF, he served as Pastor of Springfield Baptist Church in Comer, Georgia. Rev. Newman was called to FOF as Pastor on February 9, 1992.  He preached his first sermon, April 5, 1992 and was officially installed on May 24, 1992.  In 2007, Pastor Newman became a member of the Association of Christian Ministers of Clayton County.  Honored by the Atlanta Business Magazine with the Atlanta Gospel Choice Award and named as one of the top100 Influential Pastors of Atlanta, Pastor Newman has continued to be the Shepherd God called him to be.

As the Shepherd of Fountain of Faith, Pastor Newman has been devoted to the spiritual growth and expansion of the church. In 2005, Pastor Newman provided the guidance in requiring all Bible Study and Sunday School Teachers to become certified. A Board of Christian Education was established to undergird many ministries of the church. Proverbs 29:18 says that where there is no vision, the people perish. He has licensed and/or ordained many ministers and deacons.  Pastor Newman continues to provide training in many areas of the ministry.

For 30 years Pastor Newman has been a servant of the lord. Pastor Newman has a passion for teaching people how to apply the Word of God in their everyday lives.  He has a particular interest in spiritually reaching young people and encouraging higher education. Pastor Newman targeted a group of youth and young adults ages 18-30 to educate and empower through the Word of God thereby establishing the Intergenerational Ministry.  With over 29 years of experience, Pastor Newman understands the spiritual needs, growth and stability of the church to sustain its many ministries.  In 2010, he organized a noon day bible study. In addition to learning and applying the Word of God, Pastor Newman supports and stresses the spiritual and physical needs of his congregants.  As a result, a Health and Wellness Ministry was organized. Pastor Newman and Sister Newman have champion such causes as the Sickle Cell Walk/Race and the Multiple Sclerosis Walk. This effort has been an ongoing commitment in the community and in partnership with Fountain of Faith.

Several years ago, a Scholarship Ministry was established at Fountain of Faith where over 350 graduating seniors have received scholarships through the efforts of this ministry. In 2009, Pastor Newman and his Sister Newman established a scholarship in their name to continue providing additional educational resources to FOF graduating high school students. This year Pastor and Sister Newman will celebrate 5 years of awarding a Fountain of Faith graduating senior in good standing with the Patrina T. and Reginald B. Newman Scholarship.

On Saturday, April 5, 2014, Fountain of Faith was blessed once again to break ground as the 3rd phase of construction is underway.  The connective hallway and the new educational wing should be completed this year.  Although priority is given to the spiritual needs of the church, Pastor Newman is convinced that the church must have a VISION that goes beyond the present and prepares us for eternity…to building people!  That vision continues to guide FOF in becoming the Church that Jesus is so diligently calling Her to be . . . to take care of the whole man – spiritually and physically.  And, for those who feel hopeless, he brings forth a spiritual message and an uplifting word.  He is a diligent and trustworthy steward of God’s gifts.

He and wife Patrina have two adult children, Angela Newman Floyd (Timothy, son-in-law) and Reggie Newman.

Praise God that He “supports those He has called with hands that remain unseen.”
Congratulations Pastor Newman and Sister Newman on your 22nd Anniversary and thank you for your faithfulness to the Lord!
